The city-based IT bellwether, Satyam Computers, has shown the door to 400 engineers and associates in Hyderabad, Pune and Visakhapatnam.

The termination came as a rude shock to those thrown out, as they were not rookies at their jobs. Most of them were in ‘S’ band, as the company calls it, denoting their experience in the range of two to five years.

Our annual appraisal happens between April and July and the bottom 7% of employees have been shown the door," a senior company official said. Ramco now has 1,800 people on its rolls.
